In 2015/16, the CHDA, in a partnership with Pomec, established a community fruit pilot project in Mitford, in the Tsolwana region, for the establishment of a 30ha pomegranite piloting site.
The CHDA provided all inputs of production and seeds, with Pomec providing technical support, skills transfer and plant monitoring, to aid in evaluation of the pilot programme, and recommendation for full-scale production or commercial expansion.
The crop is currently being maintained, and final crop will be ready for harvest in April 2017.
